Invigo recently organized a presentation for the VICT3R consortium on the new European Artificial Intelligence Act. The presentation was tailored to the specifics of the VICT3R project, providing the participants a high-level overview of the main obligations and potential implications for the project’s work packages.
VICT3R is a project under the EU’s Innovative Health Initiative that aims to reduce animal use in toxicology research through the development of Virtual Control Groups powered by AI.
The European Artificial Intelligence Act primarily imposes obligations on providers placing AI systems on the market, deployers located in the EU and importers and distributors of AI systems. It introduces a risk-based classification system and associates different obligations with the risk level of each group of AI systems. The Act seeks to support innovation and improve the functioning of the internal market on the one hand while ensuring a high level of protection of health, safety and fundamental rights on the other hand.
